Katie Connolly

Katie Connolly

Katie Connolly is a Clinical Counsellor, Expert Registered Yoga Instructor, Craniosacral & Somatic Therapist. She empowers her sensitive and neurodivergent clients of all ages and stages of life with a holistic, strength-based, trauma-informed, neuro-developmental, sensori-motor, Somatic approach. Katie meets her clients where they are, honouring that we each develop uniquely, with different gifts.

Katie has noticed when her clients are able to tune into their body wisdom they experience greater peace, joy, and the ability to connect with their authentic selves, to glow from within. For children this also promotes body awareness, body safety, and reduces overwhelm.

Katie began exploring Somatic practices through breath and movement as a child, noticing how this changed emotional and physiological experiences. Since 2011 she has been professionally learning more about Somatic practices, and founded a Registered Children’s Yoga School to share somatic and play therapy with parents, educators, and therapists.

*Katie is currently accepting new clients for virtual sessions across Canada and is offering in-person sessions in Vancouver

*Katie’s services are covered by the Autism Funding Unit (AFU) of BC

Katie’s Services

  • Katie uses a neuro-affirming, person-centered approach, honoring neurodivergence as a natural and valuable aspect of human diversity rather than something to be "fixed" or changed. Her practice emphasizes collaboration, flexibility, and autonomy, creating a therapeutic space that feels safe and accessible.

Each session is tailored to the individual’s needs, offering low-demand support, opportunities for movement and breaks, and no pressure to maintain eye contact.

Clients are encouraged to use whatever self-regulation strategies help them feel comfortable, such as art, movement, and play.

  • "Soma" means body in Greek, and so Somatic work is about integrating the body into sessions. Katie does this by helping clients to understand their physiological (breath, sensations etc) and emotional responses, to draw upon as a resource to support them in making decisions, reframing their responses, thought patterns, and unwinding patterns no longer serving. Somatic work can be practiced through art, movement, voice, breath, bilateral, and other practices. Katie draws upon Somatic CBT to support many of her clients in their healing and growth.
